It's Friday
Diem, you'll be Carpe'd
Doesn't matter that I'm on the highway
cruisin at eighty, at 5A
'M not worried
The speed is a stimulus
Because
It's Friday
Catchin sun rays
As they creep into the valley
and the road ahead is empty
Only had 3 hours of sleep,
Being tailed by the CHP
or at least was, who cares
Because
It's Friday
Lookin for a partay
Or at least Jaime
Rollin down Parkway
Bumpin some Kanye
Better than a cramped bus
Because
It's Friday
Not just a segue-way
Got paid, no debts to pay
Hurry 2:30, I can't wait
Gas tanks almost at E
Enough to roam this city
Gouged by OPEC and U.S.
don't matter 'cause
It's Friday
Pullin into Jen's driveway
With a 12 pack of Heine
Alex steps out the foyer
Jon tells another great story
It's worth 40 hours of feeling lost
Because
It's Friday

Dreams devoured
Higher education is mental enslavement
Learning institutions are casinos and we're losin
lost sight, lost rights, school is our last rite
graduating from teenage years to blue collar fears
four years too soon, once a kid, now a corporate goon
payrolls become shackles, grand dreams torn at the seams
mark can't be a rock star of art
eleanor won't be a doctor curing the poor
tyrell will never become a five star general
the way things stand, we dont have a voice in this land
we're servants in a herd, spoken to but never heard
where is the freedom to be a rapper, artist, or jock?
uncle sam wants me to shut up and get a real job
the aspirations we've sown are not what we reap
the future is out of our hands, despite popular belief

1948-2004
remember when I used to...
LOVE them and LEAVE them...
thats what I used to do, use and abuse them
then I laid eyes on you
it was PAIN before PLEASURE
that was my claim to fame, with every measure, baby
tasted teardrop stains, yeah
I was COLD as ICE, long ago, baby...baby
wasn't very very very nice, you know, suga-suga-suga
then I kissed your lips and you...
turned on my FIRE
and you burned me up within your flames, took me a little higher
made me live again, you turned on my FIRE, baby
then you showed me what a love would do,
FIRE AND DESIRE
feel it comin' through, and I thank you, baby
LOVE them and LEAVE them...
thats what I used to do, use and abuse them
then I laid eyes on you
